Threaded or screwed flanges are two different types of flanges. In low-pressure, non-critical applications, threaded flanges are utilized to join other threaded components. Unlike slip-on pipe flanges, threaded pipe flanges have tapered threads in the bore. Pipes with exterior threads are connected to threaded pipe flanges. These pipe flanges have the advantage of not requiring welding for installation.

A raised face, flat face, or RTJ facing is commonly used on threaded pipe flanges. The typical height for threaded pipe flanges with a raised face is 1/16 inch "For threaded pipe flanges weighing less than 400 pounds. The normal threaded pipe flange raised face height is 1/4 inch for 400# and up threaded pipe flanges ".
